When things go right it’s easy to feel good about oneself, but when things go the other way, we become hopeless. Our minds become fortified prisons where we are the captor and the sole captive. Therein begins our psychological sufferings. Shashank Kasliwal’s ‘Freedom from the I’ deals with situations where one gets infinitely lost. Through this book he shares similar experiences from his life and also provides his insights to overcome the situations.

To reach a state of wellness of mind, Kasliwal explains that we must reposition our attitudes toward the vicissitudes of life, opting for a series of approaches that takes us away from materialism and towards true awakening. The author tries to tell us all about the ego — how it forms and develops, how it affects our lives, how we constantly feed it, and how it creates emotional blocks. Through his how-to self-help guide, the author says that if we want a more satisfying existence, we have to teach our ‘ego’ to loosen its grip. He also talks about the freedom to be absolutely at ease no matter where one is or what the situation is.

Kasliwal quotes his own life as an example and discusses the issues that plagued him and that keep plaguing numerous people on a day-to-day basis. He provides tips on how to stay free of negative energy and achieve a calm state of mind in order to redefine the very nature of what is possible.

The way Kasliwal writes, form and content fit comfortably together to relate uplifting and thought-provoking affirmations. His advice and methodology is for anyone with an open mind and a willingness to project peace inward and outward.
